While on one hand, I’m sad to be leaving Korea and ending what has been an interesting year…6pm tomorrow can’t come fast enough.

Well, today is probably my last day on Jindo.  I have some stuff to finish today and errands to run, but I have no work, so I have all day to get stuff done.  If I’m not quite finished by like 7pm, then I’ll stick around one extra day and leave for Seoul tomorrow.  I may do that anyway since I’ve heard talk that there might be a picnic of some sort ( Read more... )

Well, I’m still rather sick, so I’m calling in today.  Initially I had planned on going in to work and just sleeping on the couch in my office for most of the day, but I realized that the logic of me going to work while sick just to be at work, even if I’m not being productive, was far too Korean an attitude for my comfort.  So, I’m sticking around ( Read more... )

1.  OMG I love my new lens.  I want to have its babies.

2.  However, it’s going to give my right arm a bicep of steel, as this lens weighs 3.5 POUNDS (1.6kg).

3.  I got bowed to by a monk last night when I fell down from dizziness after spinning around to take a video.

Jindo is clearly moving up in the world: we have a 7-11 now!

Of course, it’s across the street from a 365 Store and a Family Mart, and around the corner from another Family Mart (remember my economics part of yesterday’s post?), but 7-11s in Korea are bigger and generally have a larger selection of western junk food.  I can buy overpriced Twix and ( Read more... )

For being a rural backwater, Jindo actually has quite a lot to offer, culture-wise.
